Nurul Haque Nur, President of the Gono Odhikar Parishad and former Vice President of the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU), has been discharged from Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) following treatment for injuries sustained during a recent clash in the capital’s Bijoynagar area.

Brigadier General Md Asaduzzaman, Director of DMCH, confirmed the release on Monday (15 September), stating that Nur’s condition had improved significantly. “He was discharged upon the recommendation of a 10-member medical board after gradual recovery,” Asaduzzaman told reporters.

Nur was admitted to the hospital on the night of the incident, where an emergency medical board was immediately formed. He was initially treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital’s old building.

The political activist was among at least 50 people injured on the night of 29 August when clashes erupted between supporters of the Jatiya Party and the Gono Odhikar Parishad in Bijoynagar. Law enforcement officials reportedly used baton charges to disperse the crowd, leading to multiple injuries.

Nur, who was critically injured, was first taken to Islami Bank Hospital before being transferred to DMCH for advanced care.
