Oil import process begins from three countries: Cabinet Secretary
Bangladesh has initiated the process to import oil from Malaysia, Indonesia and Kazakhstan to address potential supply disruptions, Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Ghani said.
Speaking after a cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the National Parliament on Thursday (April 2), he said the move comes amid uncertainties in global oil supply due to the Middle East conflict.
The government has already begun procedures with the three countries to secure alternative sources of fuel, he added.
Ghani further said that the government will continue providing subsidies in the energy sector to ease the burden on consumers while working to stabilise supply.
