One beaten to death over suspected robbery in Mohammadpur
In Mohammadpur, Dhaka, two individuals were beaten by an angry mob on suspicion of robbery. One of them was killed on the spot, while the other was rescued by police and admitted to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital.
The deceased has been identified as Yamin (23), son of Mahbub from the Dhaka Udyan area, originally from Charsakhina in Lalmohon Upazila, Bhola. The injured is named Fahim.
The incident took place around 3 pm on Monday (September 8) on the walkway by the Buriganga River near Road-12 in Chandrima Model Town.
AKM Mehedi Hasan, Assistant Police Commissioner of the Mohammadpur zone under Tejgaon division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, said that an agitated local crowd caught two unidentified suspected robbers and beat them severely. Both sustained serious injuries. Later, police and locals rescued them and admitted them to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital. One young man died while undergoing treatment, while the other, Fahim, remains under medical care.
He added that the mobile phone stolen during the incident has been recovered and two separate cases have been filed at Mohammadpur Police Station in connection with the attack.
