One killed, five injured in Ashulia septic tank explosion
A man named Rabbani,50, was killed and five others, including women and children, were injured in a septic tank explosion in Ashulia, on the outskirts of Dhaka.
Ashulia Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Hannan confirmed the incident on Saturday morning, October 11. The explosion occurred around 3 am on Friday night, October 10, at the tin-shed house of Rahmatullah in Bhadai area under Dhamsona Union of Ashulia.
The deceased, Rabbani, served as the manager of Rahmatullah’s house. He was a resident of Sariakandi upazila in Bogura district.
The injured are identified as Md Rohan,7, Iman Ali,45, Faria Begum Ratna,45, Ishrat Jahan Riya,18, and Sonia Akter,35. All of them lived in the same house.
Duty officer of the Fire Service, Kawsar Ali, said two units from DEPZ Fire Station rushed to the scene upon receiving the report and carried out a rescue operation. “House manager Rabbani was killed in the explosion, while five others sustained injuries. They have been provided with medical treatment and are now out of danger,” he said.
Ashulia OC Abdul Hannan added, “The body of the deceased has been recovered and his family members have been informed. Further legal procedures are underway.”
