The government has decided to observe a one-minute 'blackout' on the night of March 25, marking the Genocide Day.

According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs on Saturday, the 'blackout' program will be observed for one minute from 11:00pm to 11:01pm on the night of March 25 across the country to pay homage to those who were killed in the 'Operation Searchlight' launched by the then Pakistani occupation forces on that dreadful Night of March 25 in 1971.

However, KPIs and emergency installations will remain exempt from the programme. Apart from this, various programs will be organized at the national level to observe Genocide Day on 25th March. On the occasion of the day, the President and the Prime Minister deliver special speeches.

Among the main ceremonies, a discussion meeting on Genocide Day will be organized on March 25 at the Liberation War Museum at 10:30am. Genocide and liberation war-related cultural programs will be organized across the country.

Apart from this, all educational institutions including schools, colleges and madrasas will hold commemoration and discussion meetings.
