BNP Chairperson Tarique Rahman has said that one political party harbours a mentality of confining women to their homes. He made the comment on Monday, February 3, while campaigning in Khulna ahead of the thirteenth national parliamentary election.

Tarique Rahman said, "Our first duty, if we form the government, will be to rebuild the country. This must be done with everyone, irrespective of party affiliation. A country cannot be rebuilt with only one kind of people. Half of the country's 20 crore population are women. No plan that leaves them behind can move the country forward. That is why Khaleda Zia arranged free education up to the higher secondary level."

He alleged, "One political party wants to confine women to their homes. One of its leaders has clearly stated they do not believe in female leadership under any circumstances. The words he used about working women are a disgrace for this nation's people." He recalled that the Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) first wife, Hazrat Khadija (RA), was a working woman and a successful businessperson.

Tarique Rahman criticised the Jamaat Ameer for allegedly claiming his social media account was hacked after facing severe criticism for his remarks about women. "Experts have clearly said an ID cannot be hacked in this way. A senior leader of a political party is telling such lies before the election. Their only identity is that they are liars. They cannot be patriotic; their concern is only for their own people."
