Only students absent on July 13 can sit for re-exams: Education Minister

Only those students who were absent from the Physics, Accounting and Logic exams on July 13 will be allowed to register and appear for the re-examinations, Education Minister Dr. A N M Ehsanul Haque Milan has said.

The minister said only students absent on July 13 would be permitted to take the exams on Thursday afternoon. When asked if students who appeared but performed poorly would get the chance, he replied, “No. That is not possible. Those who have already taken the exams do not need to sit again. There were errors in the questions and we are giving marks to everyone for that. There is nothing more to it after this.”

The HSC and equivalent examinations were held on July 13 in 59 districts of the country, excluding five districts in Chattogram. The exams took place amid heavy rain and waterlogging, sparking strong dissatisfaction. On July 14, students across the country staged protests. In response to the students’ agitation, the Education Minister announced that the three subjects’ exams held on July 13 would be conducted again.
