Osman Hadi still critical, under 48-hour observation: Inqilab Mancha
Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of Inqilab Mancha and a prospective independent candidate for the Dhaka-8 constituency, remains in critical condition and is being kept under close medical observation at in the capital's Evercare Hospital.
In a statement issued on Saturday (December 13), Inqilab Mancha Member Secretary Abdullah Al Jaber said, "Hadi is not yet out of danger," adding, "Doctors have placed him under a 48-hour observation period. It is too early to make a definitive assessment of his condition."
Hadi was shot on Friday afternoon, a day after the announcement of the schedule for the 13th National Parliamentary Election. He was initially taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where he received emergency treatment, before being transferred to Evercare Hospital for advanced care.
Speaking to reporters outside Evercare Hospital, Fahim Farooki, convenor of the Manch-24 platform, claimed the attack was premeditated. He alleged that those involved were members of the banned Chhatra League, adding that authorities have yet to arrest the suspects.
Dhaka Medical College Hospital Director Brigadier General Md Asaduzzaman said the bullet entered through the right side near Hadi’s ear and exited through the left side of his head. Hadi was placed on life support, and initial surgery was performed by neurosurgery specialists.
The attack has triggered widespread concern and condemnation from various political parties and organisations. BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami, and other groups have called for the immediate arrest of those responsible.
A native of Nalchity upazila in Jhalokathi, Hadi completed his studies in political science at the University of Dhaka and previously taught at a private university. Following his involvement in the July mass uprising, he formed Inqilab Mancha, a platform advocating resistance against domination, the protection of independence and sovereignty, and the establishment of a justice-based state.
