Over 600 SI, sergeant sacked in 2006 to get jobs back: Home Minister
Nearly 600 Sub-Inspectors and Sergeants whose final appointments were cancelled in 2006 over allegations of partisan recruitment will get their jobs back, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has said.
He made the remarks while responding to a question from journalists after a meeting with heads of law enforcement agencies at the Home Ministry in the Secretariat on Monday afternoon.
Regarding the police officers whose appointments were cancelled, the Home Minister said, "Their file was pending at the Chief Adviser's office. Ultimately, it was not approved. However, they will receive justice. The Home Ministry had informed the Chief Adviser's office about their reinstatement following court orders. I don't know why it wasn't approved."
The minister assured that justice would be ensured in this matter and they would get their jobs back.
He further informed that 2,701 constable posts are currently vacant in the police force. Initiatives have been taken for emergency recruitment to fill these vacancies to maintain the law and order situation.
Issuing a warning about illegal interference in police work, Salahuddin Ahmed said, "No one can illegally interfere in police work. If anyone obstructs or interferes, legal action will be taken immediately against them."
