Padma bridge toll collection hits Tk 4.5cr in 24 hours

Toll collection on the Padma Bridge reached Tk 4.5 crore in the past 24 hours as Eid travel intensified, with over 41,000 vehicles crossing the key route, officials said Thursday (March 19).

A total of 41,085 vehicles crossed the bridge during the period, with steady vehicle movement maintained through expanded toll operations.

Despite increased traffic on the Dhaka–Bhanga Expressway, no major congestion was reported.

Officials said multiple booths remained operational round-the-clock at both ends of the bridge, allowing vehicles to pass every few seconds, while separate lanes for motorcycles and a dedicated bus bay helped ease pressure at entry points.

Highway police have intensified patrols to ensure smooth travel, though some passengers complained of higher fares and limited transport availability during the holiday rush.
