The water level of the Padma river may rise over the next five days, according to the Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre. The Brahmaputra, Jamuna and Ganga rivers may also see rising water levels in the coming days. However, all major rivers in the country are currently flowing below the danger level.

The forecast was issued on Saturday, July 4, signed by Assistant Engineer Nusrat Jahan Jerin of the Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre.

Heavy rainfall occurred in Bangladesh's Sylhet division and India's Tripura state over the last 24 hours. Moderate to heavy rainfall is expected in various parts of the country over the next day, while heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely in Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and the adjoining Tripura region of India over the following four days.

Meanwhile, the low-pressure area over the north-west Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas has intensified into a well-marked low.

According to the forecast, the Brahmaputra and Jamuna rivers may rise over the next day, with the Jamuna remaining stable for four days afterwards. The Ganga may rise over the next two days and then remain stable for three days.

The Surma-Kushiyara river may remain stable for the next day and then rise for two days. Significant increases are possible in the Muhuri, Gomti and Feni rivers in Chattogram division over the next three days, with changes also possible in the Halda, Sangu, Selonia and Matamuhuri rivers.

The Manu, Dhalai, Khwai, Sarigowain, Jadukata, Someshwari and Bhugai-Kangsa rivers in Sylhet and Mymensingh divisions may rise over the next three days. However, the Teesta, Dharla and Dudhkumar rivers in Rangpur division may decrease during the same period.
