The Bengali New Year 1433 will be celebrated this year with the theme 'Unity of New Year, Restoration of Democracy'. Like previous years, a colourful procession will be brought out by the Faculty of Fine Arts of Dhaka University on the occasion of Pahela Baishakh.

This information was shared at a preparatory meeting organised by the Ministry of Culture on Sunday afternoon, March 29. The meeting was chaired by Cultural Affairs Minister Advocate Nitai Roy Chowdhury.

Representatives from various ministries and concerned organisations were present at the meeting. Several initial decisions were taken to make the New Year celebration universal, orderly and meaningful.

According to the decisions, a cultural programme will be organised at Ramna Batamul by Chhayanaut as always. The programme will be broadcast live through government and private television and radio. Private channels will broadcast the programme using the feed from Bangladesh Television (BTV).
