Pakistan's Speaker meets Tarique Rahman, expresses condolences

Pakistan’s National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq met with BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman on Wednesday (December 31), expressing condolences over the death of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.

The meeting took place at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban, ahead of Khaleda Zia’s funeral prayers.

A representative delegation from Pakistan led by Sardar Ayaz Sadiq arrived in Dhaka to attend the funeral. Sadiq was earlier welcomed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport by Foreign Ministry Secretary (Inter-Governmental & Consular Affairs) M. Farhadul Islam.

Khaleda Zia’s funeral prayers are being held at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban and Manik Mia Avenue, after which she will be laid to rest beside her husband, the late President Ziaur Rahman. The former Prime Minister passed away at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka on Tuesday (December 30) at the age of 80.
