Parliament convened as per constitution, no 'reform council': Home Minister
Salahuddin Ahmed has said that the President convened the National Parliament in accordance with the Constitution and that there is no provision called a 'Reform Council.' He said the proposal in the July Charter to form a Constitutional Reform Council would require an amendment to the Constitution before it can be implemented.
He said these things while talking to reporters before joining the second day of the first session of the National Parliament on Sunday (March 15).
Earlier, the first session of the 13th National Parliament began last Thursday (March 12). After the President's address that day, Speaker Major (Retd.) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed adjourned the session till Sunday.
According to sources in the National Parliament Secretariat, today's agenda includes a question and answer session, drawing attention to urgent public importance issues, and a discussion on the motion of thanks on the President's speech.
During the question and answer session, questions related to the Cabinet Division, Ministry of Science and Technology, Secondary and Higher Education Division, Technical and Madrasa Education Division, Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, Ministry of Social Welfare and Ministry of Housing and Public Works will be answered.
Meanwhile, the first meeting of the Business Advisory Committee of Parliament has decided that the first session of the 13th National Parliament will continue until April 30. The session will be held at 3pm every day except on government holidays.
The meeting held on Saturday in the Cabinet Room of the Parliament House under the chairmanship of Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed discussed the schedule and activities of the session. It was decided to allocate a total of 50 hours of discussion on the President's address.
A total of 468 questions were submitted in this session, including eight for the Prime Minister and 460 for other ministers. In addition, 27 notices of attention under Rule-71 and 97 notices of decision proposals under Rule-131 were received.
