Parliament forms 10 more standing committees

The Jatiya Sangsad on Wednesday (September 2) formed 10 more ministry-related standing committees, with lawmakers assigned to oversee the respective ministries.

Chief Whip Md Nurul Islam moved the proposals in the House, which approved them by voice vote.

Deputy Speaker Barrister Kayser Kamal presided over the session.

The newly formed committees and their chairpersons are:

Agriculture Ministry: Gayeshwar Chandra Roy — members include Agriculture Minister Md Amin Ur Rashid, Mohammad Shahidul Islam, Mohammad Mostafizur Rahman, Mohammad Faridul Kabir Talukdar, Mohammad Abu Wahab Akand Wahid, Mohammad Mojibur Rahman Chowdhury, Mosammat Shamima Sultana, Mohammad Golam Rasul and Mohammad Raihan Saeedi.

Education Ministry: Mohammad Selim Bhuiyan — members include Education Minister Dr Ehsanul Haque Milan, State Minister for Education Bobby Hajjaj, Mohammad Selimuzzaman Molla, Md Jahangir Alam Mia, Mosammat Tahsina Rushdi, Bithika Binte Hossain, Mohammad Mojibur Rahman and Atikur Rahman Mujahid.

Road Transport and Bridges Ministry: Rakibul Islam — members include Minister Shaikh Rabiul Alam, Habibul Islam, Lutfor Rahman, Md Ruhul Amin Dulal, Md Shahidul Islam, Mohammad Akhteruzzaman, Md Rafiqul Islam Khan and Md Matiar Rahman.

Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry: Abul Kalam Azad Siddiqui — members include Minister M Rashiduzzaman Millat, Altaf Hossain Chowdhury, Lutfullah Majed, Syed Jahangir Alam, Alhaj Jasim Uddin Ahmed, Mosammat Suraiya Zerin, Shaukat Ara Akter, Masum Mostofa and Mohammad Abu Talib.

Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Ministry: Kalim Uddin Ahmed — members include Md Abul Khair Bhuiya, Md Tamiz Uddin, Md Harunur Rashid, Mobasher Alam Bhuiya, Mansura Akter, Md Keramat Ali and Syed Uddin Ahmed Hanzala Obaidullah Salafi.

Information and Broadcasting Ministry: Md Amanullah Aman — members include Minister Andaleeve Rahman, Yasser Khan Chowdhury, Md Ashraf Uddin of Narsingdi-5, Md Mostafizur Rahman Babu of Jamalpur-3, Md Mojibur Rahman, Nilufar Chowdhury Moni, Fahmida Haque, Md Shafiqul Islam and Mosammat Nazmun Nahar.

Environment, Forest and Climate Change Ministry: Mohammad GK Gaus — members include Minister Abdul Awal Mintoo, Sheikh Faridul Islam, Md Zahidul Islam, Mohammad Abdul Mannan, Sarwar Alamgir, Sultana Jesmin, Md Mahbubul Alam, Md Abdul Alim and Md Abul Kalam Azad.

Land Ministry: Naser Rahman — members include Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu, Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin, Zainal Abedin, Sardar Sarfuddin Ahmed, Shah Md Wares Ali Mamun, Ershadullah, Sultana Ahmed, Mahbubur Rahman Belal and Mahmudullah.

Religious Affairs Ministry: Rafiqul Islam Jamal — members include Minister Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain (Kaikobad), Mohammad Shamim Kaisar, Ataur Rahman Khan, Nurul Amin, Nipun Roy Chowdhury, Subarna Sikdar, Md Nurul Amin, Md Abul Hasan and Md Abdul Khalek.

Women and Children Affairs Ministry: Selima Rahman — members include Minister AZM Zahid Hossain, Rasheda Begum Hira and Bilkis Begum.

With the latest appointments, the parliament has expanded its standing committee structure to cover 10 additional ministries.
