Parliament seating reshuffled after Mirza Fakhrul becomes President

A new seating arrangement has been implemented in the National Parliament following Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir's assumption of office as President. Under the new arrangement, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed now occupies the seat beside Leader of the House and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman—a seat previously held by Mirza Fakhrul.

The third session of parliament began at 3pm on Thursday, August 27, with Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed in the chair. The new seating arrangement took effect at the start of the session, with Salahuddin Ahmed seen in Mirza Fakhrul's former seat in the front row of the government side.

Prior to his election as President, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir used to sit beside Prime Minister Tarique Rahman in parliament. Following his assumption of the presidency, he no longer serves as a member of parliament, leaving his seat vacant. The Home Minister was subsequently allocated that seat through the new seating distribution.

According to the new arrangement, the front row of the government side now accommodates nine ministers and senior leaders, including Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Mirza Abbas, Goyeshwar Chandra Roy, Energy Minister Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku, Women and Children Affairs Minister A Z M Zahid Hossain, Local Government Minister Abdul Moeen Khan, Selima Rahman and Aman Ullah Aman.

Earlier, Mirza Fakhrul occupied the seat beside the Prime Minister in parliament. After his election as President and departure from parliament, his position was reassigned, with Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed now serving in that seat.

The change in the front row of the government side became visible following Mirza Fakhrul's assumption of the presidency, with members and ministers participating in Thursday's session under the new arrangement.
