Despite political differences and debates, everyone must remain united in national interest, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has said, stating that the National Parliament will be the centre of discourse.

He made the remarks at an iftar programme marking the first founding anniversary of the National Citizen Party at the Abahani Club ground in the capital on Saturday evening, February 28.

Salahuddin Ahmed, also a member of BNP's standing committee, said, "From now on, parliament will be the centre of all discussions. Through debate and diverse opinions there, consensus will be built in national interest. The country's important issues will be discussed in parliament, and guidance for the nation will come from there."

NCP Convener Nahid Islam presided over the event, which was also attended by Road Transport, Rail and Bridges Minister Sheikh Rabiul Alam Rubel, and Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Professor Mia Golam Parwar, along with leaders from various political parties.

Regarding the NCP, the Home Minister said the emergence of a new political force in the democratic arena will make the country's politics more dynamic and enriched.

He greeted various political leaders present, including the Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General, and expressed optimism about the NCP from the very beginning of its journey.

Salahuddin Ahmed further said the current and future generations desire politics that embraces people's expectations and demands. Politics must focus on building the future rather than being confined to past history. He expressed hope that the NCP will play an effective role in fulfilling the aspirations of the martyrs of the July 2024 student-public uprising.
