Parliamentary responsibilities of Moyeen Khan and Salahuddin Ahmed expanded

The government has redistributed the responsibility of conducting parliamentary activities of several ministries and divisions during sessions of the National Parliament. As a result, the responsibilities of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan and Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed have increased.

The redistribution was announced in a notification issued by the Cabinet Division on Thursday, September 10.

The notification stated that until further orders, during sessions of the National Parliament, the parliamentary activities of the President's Office, the ministries and divisions under the Prime Minister's charge, and any other ministries or divisions where no minister or state minister has been appointed, will be conducted by the designated ministers.

According to the new decision, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed will carry out the parliamentary responsibilities of the Prime Minister's Office, the Cabinet Division, the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces Division.

In the absence of Salahuddin Ahmed, these responsibilities will be carried out by Social Welfare Minister Abu Zafar Md Zahid Hossain and Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir.

On the other hand, Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan has been given the responsibility of conducting the parliamentary activities of the President's Office, the Election Commission Secretariat and the National Parliament Secretariat.

In the absence of Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan, these responsibilities will be carried out by Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md Asaduzzaman.

The notification also stated that the other matters of previous notifications issued by the Cabinet Division on March 17, April 6, July 16 and August 20 this year will remain unchanged.

The government's new decision will take immediate effect. The notification was signed by Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Gani on the orders of the President.
