The condolence motion raised in the first session of the 13th National Parliament is 'one-sided', said Opposition Deputy Leader Dr. Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher.

The condolence motion raised in the parliament expressed deep sorrow over the deaths of 31 former members of parliament, including former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, former Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, former President Badruddoza Chowdhury and Matia Chowdhury.

However, at that time, Opposition Deputy Leader Dr. Taher described the condolence motion as 'one-sided'. He demanded that the names of Jamaat leader and former minister Maulana Matiur Rahman Nizami, Maulana Delwar Hossain Sayedee, Muhammad Qamaruzzaman, Mir Quasem Ali and Quader Mollah be included in the condolence motion.

In addition, the opposition chief whip Nahid Islam demanded that the names of Sharif Osman Bin Hadi, Abrar Fahad and Felani Khatun be included in the condolence motion.

After these proposals by the opposition, Speaker Major (Retd.) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed said that the names proposed by the opposition and the names that were omitted will be included in the condolence motion. At that time, he announced that the names of all those who died in the plane crash at Milestone School and College on July 21, 2025, including teacher Maherin Chowdhury, will also be included in the condolence motion.

Earlier, the first session of the 13th National Parliament began at 11 am on Thursday (March 12) with the recitation of the Holy Quran. Major (Retd.) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed was elected as the Speaker and Barrister Kaiser Kamal as the Deputy Speaker in the session. Later, President Mohammad Shahabuddin administered the oath to them. A condolence motion was then presented in Parliament.
