Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has said that the people have deep trust in the Bangladesh Army, the symbol of the country's independence and sovereignty.

"The army has repeatedly set bright examples of professionalism, courage and patriotism in tackling national crises, ensuring security and maintaining law and order," he said.

The Prime Minister made the remarks while inspecting the Bangladesh Army's summer training exercise in the East Rahmatpur area of Babuganj upazila, Barishal, on Monday morning, July 13.

During the visit, the Prime Minister interacted warmly with army personnel, inquiring about their welfare and encouraging them to perform their duties with dedication and professionalism.

Referring to the discipline, skill, sacrifice and devotion of the soldiers, the Prime Minister said these qualities have earned them special respect in the minds of the people. "To maintain this trust and dignity, professional training, use of modern technology and maximum preparedness must be upheld," he said.

The Prime Minister also recalled his childhood spent in an army family, saying, "Whenever I visit army personnel, I feel very good. Childhood memories come back."

He expressed hope that the Bangladesh Army would achieve further recognition and professional acclaim beyond the country's borders. "The government will provide all necessary cooperation to enhance the army's capability, modernisation and reputation," he said.

The Prime Minister walked through the vast jungle to observe various training activities and wartime preparedness, including the anti-drone multi-barrel system used to detect and neutralise enemy drones.

He also sat with soldiers on the ground, listened to their experiences, and shared a meal prepared in the field—white rice, lentils, mashed potato, shrimp and egg curry cooked over open flames.

Information Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan, PM's Defence Adviser Brigadier General (Retd) Dr A K M Shamsul Islam, Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman, PM's Military Secretary Major General Abul Hasnat Mohammad Tariq and senior army officials were present.
