People take Allah’s name after waking, one candidate takes mine: Mirza Abbas

BNP Standing Committee member and Dhaka-8 candidate Mirza Abbas said one of his rival candidates constantly mentions him in speeches.

Speaking to journalists during a campaign event at Eastern Plus Market in Shantinagar on January 30, Abbas said people usually begin their day remembering Allah, but a particular candidate starts by mentioning his name.

He said he has contested against stronger rivals in past elections without engaging in personal attacks. Abbas alleged that his opponents are using abusive language and attempting to provoke him.

Calling his opponents inexperienced, he said he considers them like his children and urged them to follow election rules and avoid personal attacks.

Abbas expressed confidence that voters would take the right decision and said the enthusiasm surrounding the February 12 election would be reflected in the results.

He also alleged attempts at election engineering, claiming that certain groups are trying to manipulate the outcome to ensure victory for specific candidates.
