Describing the continuous attacks on police as 'deeply worrying', Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sazzat Ali said that if such a situation continues, people will have to protect their homes themselves.

He made the comments in response to a question from reporters after inaugurating DB's Cyber Support Center on Thursday (November 20) morning.

Three people, including ASI Nur Islam, were injured in three cocktail explosions in front of Pallabi Police Station in Mirpur around 8:30 pm on Wednesday. Terming the incident as a 'planned attack on the police', the DMP Commissioner said: "Our members were injured in the cocktail explosions. This has severely damaged the morale of the police."

He warned the miscreants, saying: "No one will benefit from such sabotage. If this continues, it will become difficult to guard homes—people will have to ensure their own safety."

Earlier on November 16, the DMP Commissioner issued a radio message ordering shoot on sight in case of arson or crude bomb attack. In this regard, he said: "There is a provision in the Police Act to open direct fire if someone commits sabotage. Instructions have been given to strictly enforce the law if someone commits sabotage by throwing cocktails."
