Petition filed to ban ISKCON and impose emergency in Chattogram, Rangpur
A lawyer, Moniruzzaman, has filed a petition in the High Court requesting a ban on ISKCON and the declaration of a state of emergency in Chattogram and Rangpur to avoid any potential unrest.
Moniruzzaman submitted media reports to the bench of Justices Farah Mahbub and Debashish Ray Chowdhury on Wednesday (November 27), seeking an order on the matter.
The High Court expressed concern and directed the government to report its actions regarding ISKCON and the recent issue by the next day.
Due to the sensitive nature of the issue, the court summoned the Attorney General. Attorney General Md Asaduzzaman informed the court that the government is working to foster national unity and address the concerning situation. He also mentioned that discussions with political parties on the recent issue have already begun.
