Photo cards circulating about Shama Obaed 'fake', public urged not to be misled
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said that some photo cards circulating on social media, attributed to State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam, are completely false and fabricated.
In a statement on Monday, March 30, the ministry urged the public not to be misled by such propaganda and to remain vigilant.
The statement said that several fake photo cards circulating on social media have recently come to the attention of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. These photo cards contain entirely false information presented as statements by State Minister Shama Obaed Islam.
One such card claims: "We must speak to India with our eyes lowered. The way we are having to grovel to India to bring oil, just chanting slogans of 'Delhi not Dhaka' won't do. We must understand that if we quarrel with India, our very existence will be threatened."
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirms that this statement is completely a rumour and deliberately fabricated. The State Minister has never made such a statement anywhere. Therefore, everyone is requested not to be misled by such misinformation and rumours.
The statement further clarified that the State Minister has actually said: "The government's foreign policy is 'Bangladesh First'. We will have relations with all states, all governments while protecting the interests of the people of Bangladesh. Bangladesh will engage with all countries, speak with them, and maintain friendships with its spine straight."
