Pilkhana massacre case Trial Shifted to Keraniganj
The government has decided to shift the trial proceedings of the explosive case of the Pilkhana massacre from the temporary court in Bakshibazar in the capital to the temporary court in Keraniganj Prison.
The Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs issued a notification in this regard on Sunday (January 12).
As a result of Sunday’s notification, the notification issued on December 28, 2010 for conducting case proceedings in the temporary court built on the ground adjacent to the Bakshibazar Government Alia Madrasa and Dhaka Central Jail will be considered null and void.
The trial of the BDR mutiny case was supposed to be moved from the temporary court in the capital's Bakshibazar to the temporary court in Keraniganj Prison. But due to the lack of preparation, the bail hearing was supposed to be held on January 9 in the temporary court built on the ground adjacent to the Government Alia Madrasa and Dhaka Central Jail.
But on the night before January 9, a fire broke out in the courtroom at Alia Madrasa ground. The entire room was burnt down in the incident. However, it is not yet known how the fire started.
The next date for the bail hearing in this case has been fixed for January 19.
