More than four hours after a Bangladesh Air Force training plane crashed near Milestone School and College in Uttara, the rescue and treatment of the injured continues amid significant challenges.

A large number of people suffered burns in the accident, and many remain hospitalized across the city. At around 5:15 PM Monday, a visit to Uttara Modern Medical College Hospital revealed long queues of ambulances and anxious relatives waiting in the corridors.

Hospital authorities confirmed that many of the severely injured have been referred to specialized units in other hospitals. Dr. Amal Kanti Nath, an emergency physician at Uttara Modern Medical College Hospital, stated that at least 35 burn victims were transferred to the burn unit at Dhaka Medical College.

“Most patients here show clear signs of burns, with injuries on their limbs and smoke inhalation affecting some,” Dr. Nath said. “Thanks to quick referrals, critical patients have begun receiving immediate care.”

Meanwhile, the rescue operation has been repeatedly disrupted by thousands of onlookers gathering near the crash site. Fire service personnel reported struggling to manage the crowd despite efforts to disperse them.

A fire service officer involved in the rescue operation said, “After rescuing the injured from inside, the crowd is causing delays in transporting them to hospitals. Cooperation from the public is essential to ensure timely medical attention.”

Authorities are urging the public to maintain order and allow emergency teams to carry out their work smoothly.
