PM assures swift and exemplary punishment for Ramisa's killers

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has assured that the killers of Ramisa Akhter, who was brutally murdered after being brutally tortured in the capital's Pallabi, would face swift exemplary punishment.


The PM went to Ramisa's house in Pallabi and spoke to Ramisa's grieving relatives around 9:30pm on Thursday. During this time, he inquired about them and expressed deep condolences and comfort to the bereaved family. The Prime Minister was also informed in detail about the overall situation of Ramisa's murder.

On Tuesday (May 19) morning, police recovered the body of Ramisa Akhter, a second-grade student, from a flat in Mirpur-11 section. The brutal murder has sparked a storm of anger and condemnation across the country. The common people of Mirpur have been blocking roads and holding protest programmes since Thursday evening, demanding the speedy arrest and trial of the killers.

PM's visit is seen as a ray of hope by the local residents and the victim's family. They hope that this intervention at the highest level will lead to a speedy trial of the case and exemplary punishment for the criminals behind the murder of child Ramisa.
