PM calls for working together to fulfil people's expectations
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has held a views-exchange meeting with officers and employees of his office for the first time since assuming office. The meeting took place at the Shapnala Hall of the Prime Minister's Office in Tejgaon on Saturday, February 28.
Addressing the officers and employees, the Prime Minister said the people of Bangladesh are looking towards the government with high expectations. "You are also part of that government. The government will perform well only when you extend maximum cooperation."
He said, "We consider this country as our first and last address. Therefore, we must take the responsibility of changing the fate of the people."
The Prime Minister further said every political party has an election manifesto. Through a fair election, the people have voted in favour of implementing the election manifesto of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party. Therefore, it is now the government's responsibility to work according to the promises made in the manifesto.
He sought cooperation from government officers and employees in implementing all commitments mentioned in the manifesto, including health, education, women's education, employment and sports. At the same time, emphasising ensuring the security of the country's people, he said arrangements must be made so that citizens feel safe.
The Prime Minister expected full cooperation from all concerned in building a corruption-free state. He also instructed maintaining confidentiality in the interest of the country and state and strictly following government rules and regulations.
He said if the employees of the republic work with discipline and responsibility, it will be possible to lead the nation to an orderly and desired position.
Prime Minister's Advisers Mirza Abbas, Md Ismail Jabiullah, Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, Humayun Kabir, Brigadier General (Retd) Shamsul Islam, Dr Zahed Ur Rahman and Mahdi Amin were present at the meeting. Prime Minister's Principal Secretary A B M Abdus Sattar delivered the welcome address. Later, Director General of the Prime Minister's Office Mohammad Abdul Wadud Chowdhury presented the office's structure and functions.
