Prime Minister Tarique Rahman paid a courtesy call on President Md. Shahabuddin on the occasion of the great Independence and National Day. The meeting was held at Bangabhaban at 6pm on Thursday (March 26). It is learnt that his daughter Barrister Zaima Rahman was present with the Prime Minister during the meeting. Earlier in the afternoon, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman inaugurated a special friendly football match organized by the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) on the occasion of the great Independence Day at the National Stadium in Dhaka. These two important events were held as part of various state programs on the occasion of the day.

মহান স্বাধীনতা ও জাতীয় দিবস উপলক্ষে রাষ্ট্রপতি মো. সাহাবুদ্দিনের সঙ্গে সৌজন্য সাক্ষাৎ করেছেন প্রধানমন্ত্রী তারেক রহমান। বৃহস্পতিবার (২৬ মার্চ) সন্ধ্যা ৬টায় বঙ্গভবনে এ সাক্ষাৎ অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। সাক্ষাতের সময় প্রধানমন্ত্রীর সঙ্গে তার মেয়ে ব্যারিস্টার জাইমা রহমান উপস্থিত ছিলেন বলে জানা গেছে। এর আগে বিকেলে রাজধানীর জাতীয় স্টেডিয়াম ঢাকায় মহান স্বাধীনতা দিবস উপলক্ষে বাংলাদেশ ফুটবল ফেডারেশন (বাফুফে) আয়োজিত বিশেষ প্রীতি ফুটবল ম্যাচের উদ্বোধন করেন প্রধানমন্ত্রী তারেক রহমান। দিবসটি উপলক্ষে রাষ্ট্রীয় বিভিন্ন কর্মসূচির অংশ হিসেবে এই দুই গুরুত্বপূর্ণ আয়োজন অনুষ্ঠিত হয়।
