PM chairs 121st NICAR meeting on administrative reorganisation

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman chaired the 121st meeting of the National Implementation Committee for Administrative Reorganisation (NICAR) at the Secretariat on Wednesday (July 1).

The meeting was held at the conference room of the Cabinet Division, where members discussed a number of key administrative restructuring proposals.

Among those in attendance were Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, and senior officials from the relevant ministries and divisions.

According to meeting sources, members reviewed and made decisions on several important issues related to administrative reorganisation. However, the government did not immediately disclose the details of the decisions following the meeting.

NICAR is the government's highest policymaking body on administrative reorganisation. It is responsible for considering and approving proposals related to the creation of new administrative units, boundary realignment, jurisdictional changes and other matters concerning the country's administrative structure.

An official notification outlining the decisions taken at the meeting is expected to be issued later.
