PM condoles death of senior journo Amir Khasru

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of senior journalist Amir Khasru.

In a message of condolence, he prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.

The premier said Amir Khasru's longstanding contributions to journalism would always be remembered.

Through his work with various media outlets, including Voice of America, Amir Khasru played an important role in the media sector, Tarique Rahman said.

"His death has created a void in the country's journalistic community. His writings consistently championed democracy, truth and rationale," said the prime minister.

Amir Khasru died on Saturday evening while undergoing treatment at the Super Specialized Hospital of Bangladesh Medical University (BMU) here at the age of 65.
