PM congratulates peacekeepers for their contribution to world peace

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has congratulated peacekeepers for their contribution to world peace. In a post on his verified Facebook account on Tuesday evening, June 9, the prime minister said United Nations peacekeeping operations are a unique initiative in ensuring global peace, stability and human security. Peacekeepers continue to work with great courage, patience and dedication to restore peace in regions affected by conflict, violence and humanitarian crises.

On the occasion of International UN Peacekeepers Day, he extended his sincere greetings and deep respect to all peacekeepers around the world. Recalling the sacrifices of peacekeepers in establishing world peace, he wrote, "Their sacrifices will remain immortal in the history of the nation." He also expressed deep condolences to injured and affected peacekeepers and their family members.

Tarique Rahman wrote that Bangladesh has long been making significant contributions to UN peacekeeping operations. Bangladeshi peacekeepers have enhanced the country's reputation through their professionalism, skill and humanitarian values in various countries around the world, further strengthening Bangladesh's position on the international stage. Bangladesh is currently among the top countries sending the highest number of peacekeepers to UN peacekeeping operations.

Praising the role of Bangladeshi female peacekeepers, he wrote, "Through their skills, leadership and professional competence, they have earned worldwide praise, which is a bright reflection of women's empowerment and Bangladesh's development."

The prime minister concluded by stating that a safe and peaceful world can be built on the basis of mutual respect, cooperation and tolerance, and that Bangladesh will continue to actively participate in UN initiatives to establish world peace in the future.
