PM directs two ministers to inspect measles situation nationwide

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has directed two ministers to travel across the country to assess the situation following the recent deaths of 100 children from measles. Chief Whip Nurul Islam Mani informed journalists about this after a parliamentary committee meeting at the Parliament building on Sunday, March 29.

He said the prime minister has instructed the two concerned ministers to visit various parts of the country to observe the current outbreak situation firsthand and take necessary measures.

The chief whip further said the Health Ministry briefed the parliamentary committee meeting, during which the deaths of 100 children from measles came to the prime minister's attention. He then ordered action against those responsible and tasked the two ministers with assessing the situation and ensuring necessary healthcare.

It is noteworthy that recent reports indicate child deaths from measles in various parts of the country. At Rajshahi Medical College Hospital alone, 63 children have died from measles and pneumonia in the past three months.
