PM en route to Dhaka after 6-day foreign visit
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has departed for Dhaka following the conclusion of his visits to Malaysia and China. On the final day of his six-day state visit, he held both private and bilateral meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
On Friday afternoon local time, the Prime Minister and his entourage left for Dhaka on a China Southern Airlines commercial flight from Beijing Daxing International Airport. He was seen off at the airport by the Chinese President's Special Envoy, Yu Xiaoyong.
On the last day of the tour, bilateral talks between the two countries were held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, led by Xi Jinping and Tarique Rahman. Following the meeting, the two leaders also engaged in a private discussion.
According to information from the Prime Minister’s entourage, he visited the Museum of the Communist Party of China after the meeting. Earlier in the morning, he paid tribute to China's heroes at Tiananmen Square and met with Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China.
At the beginning of this tour, the Prime Minister visited Malaysia. Following a meeting with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, several agreements were reached between the two nations regarding cultural cooperation, counter-terrorism, research, and investment.
Later during the China visit, a total of 17 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed between the two countries, covering various areas including investment and media cooperation. Among these, an agreement was also reached between the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and the Communist Party of China to enhance communication and cooperation.
Bilateral relations, economic cooperation, and investment were also discussed during a meeting with Chinese Premier Li Qiang.
The government views this visit as a significant step towards further deepening Bangladesh-China relations. Following the conclusion of the tour, the Prime Minister is now returning home.
