PM gifts student for tenderly caring for blind horse
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has stood by a college student from Satkhira's Kalaroa Upazila in recognition of his humanitarian initiative. The Prime Minister has sent financial assistance and gifts to the student for taking care of a blind and sick horse rescued from the road.
Former chief coordinator of Satkhira District Jubo Dal, Ainul Islam Nanta, went to the house of college student Sohan in Chanduria village on behalf of the Prime Minister and handed over assistance and gifts on Tuesday night (June 30). At that time, a comprehensive inquiry into the matter was conducted under the direction of Jatiya Sangsad Whip Rakibul Islam Bakul, sources said.
Local sources said that a few days ago, a video went viral on social media. It shows a blind and sick horse lying abandoned next to the crematorium. After seeing the video, Sohan went to the spot, rescued the horse and brought it to his house.
Later, the local veterinarian examined the animal and said that both eyes of the horse were permanently damaged and it was not possible to restore its eyesight through treatment. Even then, Sohan did not abandon the animal and took responsibility for its regular care and maintenance with the help of family members.
Sohan said, even though it is blind in two eyes, it is a living animal. You cannot abandon an animal in pain in front of your eyes. As long as it is alive, we will take care of it as much as we can. The Prime Minister has taken note of this initiative of ordinary people like us and is standing by it, which is a great inspiration for us.
Sohan's father Naeem Hossain said that they gave shelter to the horse because of his son's interest and compassion. He also commented that people should have a sense of responsibility towards helpless animals as well.
