PM gives Eid gifts to sanitation workers of all city corporations

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has provided Eid gifts of Tk 5,000 each to every sanitation worker of the country's 12 city corporations. He handed over cheques to the administrators of the city corporations at his office in the National Parliament Secretariat at 3:30 pm on Sunday, March 15.

Present at the Eid gift distribution ceremony were Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, State Minister Mir Shah Alam, Chattogram City Corporation Mayor Dr Shahadat Hossain, and administrators of other city corporations.

Prime Minister's Additional Press Secretary Atiqur Rahman Rumon said this financial assistance has been provided to express respect and solidarity with sanitation workers on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr.

He said sanitation workers play a vital role in keeping the country's cities clean and liveable. The Prime Minister has taken this initiative in recognition of their tireless efforts.

He expressed hope that this initiative will further enhance the Eid joy in the families of sanitation workers. Concerned officials also said the government will continue various humanitarian and welfare initiatives in the future for the wellbeing of workers engaged in urban services.
