PM hails Bangladesh after historic “Banglawash” of Pakistan

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has congratulated the Bangladesh national cricket team after their historic Test series victory and clean sweep against Pakistan on home soil.

The Prime Minister’s Deputy Press Secretary Zahidul Islam Rony confirmed the development to the media on Wednesday (May 20).

Bangladesh sealed the series 2–0 with a 78-run win in the second Test at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, following an earlier 104-run victory in Mirpur, completing a first-ever Test series “Banglawash” over Pakistan national cricket team.

The landmark triumph has been widely celebrated as one of Bangladesh’s biggest achievements in Test cricket history.

Following the series win, Bangladesh also made a significant jump in the World Test Championship standings, climbing to fifth position with 58.33 percent points. India national cricket team slipped to sixth with 48.15 percent points.

The Prime Minister expressed hope that Bangladesh’s winning momentum will continue in international cricket and inspire the country’s youth to engage more in sports.

He also said that discipline, unity and confidence were key factors behind the team’s success and urged players to maintain the same spirit in future challenges.

The Prime Minister extended congratulations to all players, coaching staff and team management for their achievement.
