PM inaugurates nationwide dengue prevention, cleanliness drive

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Saturday (September 12) inaugurated a three-month nationwide dengue prevention and cleanliness campaign as dengue cases continue to rise in Dhaka and other parts of the country.

The “Dengue Prevention and Cleanliness Campaign 2026” was launched at 9am at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban, with the programme aimed at curbing the spread of dengue and raising public awareness.

Under the campaign, relevant agencies and local administrations will coordinate cleanliness drives in different areas to eliminate potential breeding grounds for Aedes mosquitoes.

The campaign will also encourage people to remove stagnant water from their homes, yards and surrounding areas and keep their neighbourhoods clean.

The three-month initiative is part of a broader, coordinated effort to tackle the country’s dengue situation and strengthen long-term prevention measures.
