PM inaugurates SDG Village pilot project
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has inaugurated the SDG Village pilot project, bringing three villages under the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) framework for the first time in the country.
He inaugurated the project at a national conference on determining a five-year strategic framework for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka, on Monday, August 10.
Prime Minister's Deputy Press Secretary Md Sujauddoula (Sujan Mahmud) confirmed the information.
The three villages selected under the pilot project are: Nefanganj in Bochaganj upazila, Dinajpur; Pankhali in Dakop upazila, Khulna; and Mitingachhari in Kaptai upazila, Rangamati.
Under the project, various activities will be undertaken in phases in these villages to eradicate poverty, address waterlogging and agricultural land drainage problems, ensure quality education and improve healthcare services.
Initiatives will also include reducing maternal and child mortality, ensuring safe drinking water supply and expanding modern sanitation facilities.
