PM launches commemorative stamp for 2026 FIFA World Cup

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has unveiled a commemorative postage stamp of Tk 10 to mark the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

He unveiled the commemorative stamp at his office in the National Parliament Secretariat on Thursday morning, June 11. The special initiative by the Postal Department was officially released on the occasion of the 2026 World Cup.

Along with the stamp, a souvenir sheet with a cover of Tk 50 and a data card of Tk 5 were also released. A special commemorative seal has been used on these items, according to the prime minister's deputy press secretary Zahidul Islam Rony.

Present at the ceremony were Post, Telecommunications and IT Minister Fakir Mahbub Anam, ministry secretary Bilkis Jahan Rimi, prime minister's additional press secretary Atiqur Rahman Rumon, and additional director general of the Postal Department S M Harunur Rashid.

The 2026 World Cup is being jointly hosted by the United States, Mexico and Canada. For the first time in history, three countries are co-hosting the World Cup, and a total of 48 teams are participating in this edition.
