PM launches special postage stamp for Independence Day
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman unveiled commemorative postage stamp on the occasion of the great Independence and National Day-2026. He released the postage stamp in a brief ceremony organized at his office in the Secretariat on Wednesday morning (March 25). The matter was confirmed by the Prime Minister's Additional Press Secretary Atiqur Rahman Rumon.
It is learned that the Prime Minister reached the Secretariat at 9:02am. After going to the office, he first completed some urgent administrative work. Later, he officially unveiled the commemorative postage stamp at a ceremony organized at 9:30am.
Posts and Telecommunications Minister Fakir Mahbub Anam, Postal Secretary Abdun Naser Khan and Director General of the Directorate of Posts Kazi Asadul Islam along with senior officials concerned were present at the ceremony.
Meanwhile, a cabinet meeting is scheduled to be held today at 4pm under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister. Although the regular cabinet meeting is usually held every Thursday, the meeting has been brought forward by a day this week to mark the official holiday of Independence Day and National Day on March 26.
After a long period of one and a half decades since 2008, preparations are underway across the country to celebrate Independence Day in a different political and social atmosphere. This time, after 18 years, the day will be celebrated with colorful arrangements including a parade at the National Parade Ground.
