PM mourns death of speaker’s wife

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman expressed deep sorrow over the death of Dilara Hafiz, wife of National Parliament Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Deputy Speaker Barrister Kaiser Kamal also conveyed their condolences, praying for the departed soul and expressing sympathy to the bereaved family, relatives, and well-wishers.

According to BNP Media Cell member Shairul Kabir Khan, Dilara Hafiz passed away while undergoing treatment in Singapore around 1:30pm (local time). Her body will be brought back to Bangladesh on Sunday evening.

Funeral prayers will be held at 11:00am on March 30 at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban and later at the central mosque of the Cantonment, followed by burial at Banani Military Graveyard.

She had been receiving treatment at Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka and was flown to Singapore by air ambulance on Eid-ul-Fitr.

She is survived by her husband, a son, a daughter, and grandchildren, leaving behind numerous admirers.
