Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will not reside at the state guest house Jamuna for the time being, opting instead to operate from his private residence in Gulshan.

The information was confirmed on Thursday (March 19) by Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Rumon.

He said the prime minister would, however, attend Eid prayers at the National Eidgah Maidan at 8:00am and later exchange greetings with dignitaries at Jamuna from 10:00am.

Officials said there had been discussions over whether the prime minister would move into Jamuna after assuming office.

However, for now, he prefers to carry out official duties from his residence unless required otherwise for state or official purposes.
