Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has asked the law enforcement personnel to increase surveillance over the dealers of fake currency.

“The supply of fake currency increases whenever Eid approaches. Monitoring should be increased to control the dealers of fake currency. Drives against the dealers of fake currency has to be increased,” she said while addressing a programme organised on the occasion of 20th anniversary Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at its headquarters in Kurmitola on Wednesday (March 6).

The PM said, “We want our country to move forward. We need to improve our country. We have to ensure the country’s socio-economic development utilising the resources of the country.”

Appreciating RAB's role in suppressing militancy, she said, “RAB personnel have played a brave role in suppressing militancy by taking the risk of their life.”

She urged RAB to play a more effective role in preventing the spread of juvenile gangs and drugs.

Commenting about freeing the Sundarbans from pirates, Sheikh Hasina said, “Pirates should not go astray again. We have to take care of what they need in life. Their livelihood should be ensured so that they do not return to their former lifestyle.”
