PM pays last respects to Jamiruddin Sircar
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman paid his last respects to former Speaker, former Acting President and BNP standing committee member Barrister Jamiruddin Sircar by placing a wreath at the parliament premises on Sunday, July 12.
The second funeral of Sircar was held at the National Parliament building after Asr prayers. Due to bad weather, the funeral was held at the main entrance tunnel instead of the south plaza.
President Md Sahabuddin was represented by his military secretary, Major General A S M Bahauddin, who placed a wreath. PM Tarique Rahman also placed a wreath on behalf of BNP.
Speaker Major (Retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, Chief Whip Md Noorul Islam, Deputy Speaker Barrister Kayser Kamal and others also paid tribute.
Earlier in the parliamentary session, lawmakers from both sides delivered speeches recalling Sircar's life and work. Barrister Jamiruddin Sircar passed away early Sunday morning.
