PM pays tribute at Ziaur Rahman, Khaleda Zia's graves
Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Tarique Rahman paid tribute at the graves of former President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia on the occasion of the Great Independence and National Day.
Led by Tarique Rahman, BNP leaders paid their respects and offered special prayers at Zia Udyan in the capital at 7:00 am on Thursday, March 26.
Earlier, the Prime Minister had paid tribute at the National Memorial in Savar at 6:00 am. After the tributes, he returned to Dhaka and paid his respects at the graves of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman Bir Uttam and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia by 7:00 am.
After laying the wreaths, the Prime Minister stood in silence for a while. Members of the BNP's National Standing Committee later paid their respects separately.
The Prime Minister then led the gathering in reciting Fateha and offered special prayers for the salvation of the departed souls of Ziaur Rahman and Begum Khaleda Zia.
Cabinet members, senior BNP leaders and high-ranking military and civil officials were present with the Prime Minister during the visit.
After the tributes, the Prime Minister exchanged greetings with the gathered leaders and activists and recalled the significance of the Independence Day and the political contributions of the two leaders.
