PM presents National Environment Awards to three individuals, three institutions

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Thursday (July 9) presented the National Environment Award 2025 to three individuals and three institutions in recognition of their outstanding contributions to environmental conservation, environmental education and awareness, and environmental research and technological innovation.

The awards were presented during the inauguration of World Environment Day and Environment Fair 2026 and the National Tree Plantation Campaign and Tree Fair 2026 at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center.

In the individual category, Md Hasmat Ali, assistant professor of Alhaj Farhad Ali Memorial Degree College, received the award for his contribution to environmental conservation and pollution control. Md Monir Hossain was honoured for his role in environmental education and public awareness, while Dr Abdus Salam, professor of chemistry and Pro-Vice Chancellor of University of Dhaka, received the award for his contribution to environmental research and technological innovation.

In the institutional category, Classical Handmade Products BD Limited was recognised for its contribution to environmental conservation and pollution control.

The Institute of Forestry and Environmental Sciences, University of Chittagong received the award for excellence in environmental education and awareness, while the Bangladesh Jute Research Institute was honoured for its achievements in environmental research and technological innovation.

The National Environment Award is the country's highest state recognition for individuals and institutions making significant contributions to environmental protection and sustainable development.
