PM provides financial assistance to families of two soldiers killed in Hathazari accident

Family members of the two soldiers killed in an accident during shelling from a tank at the Hathazari Field Firing Range in Chattogram have met Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. The meeting was held at the Prime Minister's Office in Tejgaon on Tuesday morning. Prime Minister's Deputy Press Secretary Hasan Shiblee confirmed the matter.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister spoke with the family members of the slain soldiers and expressed deep condolences over the loss of their loved ones in the tragic accident. He inquired about the well-being of the family members and assured them of standing by their side.

The Prime Minister handed over cheques of financial assistance to the families of the two slain soldiers. He also assured that the government and the Bangladesh Army would stand by these families in their time of need in the future as well.

The accident occurred on September 9 during shelling from a tank as part of regular military training at the Hathazari Field Firing Range in Chattogram. Two members of the Bangladesh Army were killed in the incident. A military officer was seriously injured in the same incident and was airlifted to the Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka.

Following the accident, authorities launched an investigation to determine its cause. According to ISPR, the accident occurred suddenly at one point during shelling from a tank during regular field firing practice.

The Prime Minister's wife, Dr Zubaida Rahman, Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman and senior army officers were present during the meeting with the Prime Minister.
