The Ministry of Foreign Affairs shared the information in a Facebook post on Saturday, July 4.

In the letter, the prime minister extended heartfelt congratulations to the American people on behalf of the Bangladesh government, the people of Bangladesh and himself on the 250th anniversary of independence. He expressed hope that under President Trump's leadership, the US would continue to advance towards greater prosperity.

Tarique Rahman said the 250th anniversary of independence is not only significant for the US but also an important milestone of global inspiration for freedom, democracy, sacrifice, values and humanitarian ideals.

Over the past five decades, relations between the two countries have deepened and become more multidimensional through trade, investment, education, defence and people-to-people contact.

The prime minister said the significant progress in trade, energy cooperation and investment since the beginning of this year has taken bilateral relations to new heights. He also expressed gratitude for the US's continued cooperation and generosity in addressing the Rohingya crisis.

In the letter, Tarique Rahman reiterated his commitment to working closely with the Trump administration in various areas of mutual interest. He also wished President Trump good health, longevity and success, and peace, prosperity and happiness for the American people.
