PM Tarique presides over cabinet meeting

A cabinet meeting was held with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman in the chair. The meeting was held at the conference room of the Cabinet Division of the Bangladesh Secretariat on Thursday.

The Prime Minister's Press Secretary Saleh Shibli gave this information.

Earlier, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman presented the 'Ekushey Padak 2026' to the eminent personalities at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital after 11am.

The 'Ekushey Padak', one of the highest national honors, was awarded to 10 individuals and one organization this year for their outstanding contributions in various fields.

At the event, the Prime Minister said that it is a matter of pride for the nation to honor the eminent personalities who have contributed to the country's art, culture, education, journalism and creative fields.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman inaugurated the book fair at the Bangla Academy premises in the capital at 2pm. The inauguration ceremony of Amar Ekushey Book Fair-2026 began with the national anthem sung in a collective voice.

Tarique Rahman's wife Dr. Zubaida Rahman and daughter Zaima Rahman were present at the event.

Artists from Sursaptak performed the national anthem at the event. After that, various religious scriptures were read.
